NATE PERKINS LIVE!

Honorable Disabled Retired LTC "Nate" Perkins was the Forces Command-Information Assurance Program Manager, G6, U.S. Army Forces Command. He assumed this position July 11, 2000, until medical retirement on March 1, 2003. LTC (R) Perkins was born in Greenville, North Carolina, on 23 December 1955.

In 1976, he received his Associate Degree from Cowan College, NC. He entered the U.S. Army in 1979, after graduating Winston-Salem State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Physical Education and a Minor in History. He received a Military Science Degree in R.O.T.C. from Wake Forest University, NC; and a Master’s in Information and Technology Science and General Studies from the University of Texas, at Killeen. In 1989, he graduated from Command and General Staff College, KS. Also, attended National War College and Information Warfare in Washington, D.C.

His military assignments have covered a broad spectrum of leadership and responsibilities, including

  • Brigade Assistant Operations Officer
  • Program Manager, Resource Management
  • Joint Staff Officer Information Warfare

Before graduation from the Signal Officer Basic Advanced Course at Fort Gordon, GA, he was the 97th Signal Battalion (CENTAG) Platoon Leader and Assistant S3 in Mannheim. After graduation from the Signal Officer Advanced Course at Fort Gordon, GA,

  • He was assigned Brigade Assistant Operation, 3rd Signal Brigade, III Corps.
  • In October 1985, he became the Signal Officer, 1st Squadron, 9th Calvary Division, Fort Hood, Texas.
  • He commanded twenty-two months in a Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 13th Signal Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, TX.
  • He served as Operation Officer in 307th Signal Battalion, 1st Signal Brigade, United States Forces Korea and Eighth U.S. Army.
  • He served as Project Manager Fielder for Mobile Subscriber Equipment (MSE) for Communications Electronics Command (CECOM), III Corps, Fort Hood, TX, an over $5.2 billion project.
  • He served as Battalion S3 Officer in 1114th Signal Battalion, III Corps, Fort Hood, TX.
  • LTC Perkins deployed to Southwest Asia for Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm as Deputy Chief of Staff for Plans and Engineer Division, 6th Signal Command, Saudi Arabia.
  • He was responsible for planning and engineering of telecommunications systems and networks in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain locations supporting the Gulf War.
  • In May 1992, LTC Perkins was assigned as Chief joint Communication Division, Joint Command and Control Warfare Center, Joint Staff J3, Kelly Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX.
  • He assumed the position of information Operation Officer, Defensive-Information Warfare (IW-D) Division, Command, Control and Communication Systems Directorate, Headquarters United States European Command, Stuttgart, Germany on 20 July 1995.
  • LTC Perkins was assigned as the Chief, Joint Operations Branch, Joint Warfighters Support Division, Deputy Chief of Staff, Command, Control, Communications and Computers, U.S. Army Forces Command on 13 October 1998.
  • LTC Perkins was assigned as the Chief, Joint Warfighters Support Division, DCSC4, U.S. Army Forces Command. He assumed this position 5 March 1999.

Lieutenant Colonel Perkins is married to the former Theresa Marie Dent of Philadelphia, PA. They have two children. Natrina attends Georgia Tech as an U.S. Air Force R.O.T.C. scholarship student, and, also attends Georgia State University as a Political Science Major. Natricia is a freshman at Clayton State University, majoring in Political Science and Art.
